"why isn't your wix site ranking? How to fix it" by done wright media for WIx SEO advice

Your website looks great, but it’s nowhere to be found on Google. Sound familiar?

This is one of the most common issues I see from small business owners using Wix. You put time and effort into building a good-looking site, but the traffic just isn’t coming. The problem isn’t the platform. The problem is visibility.

If Google can’t properly understand or trust your site, or your site simply does not contain enough information, it won’t rank well. Here’s why that might be happening, and what you can do about it.

Throughout the following text I will be using my own business name, industry, and what best practices would look like if I was starting fresh with a Wix Website.

1. Missing Page Titles and Meta Descriptions could hurt your Wix SEO

Wix gives you the ability to set custom page titles and meta descriptions, but most users either skip this, write something too generic, or copy and paste the same page title for every page. These elements are what show up in search results, and they help Google understand what each page is about.

What to do:

Write clear, keyword-focused titles and descriptions for each page. For example:

  • Title: Santa Rosa Web Design & SEO Services | Done Wright Media

  • Meta Description: Done Wright Media offers professional website design, SEO, and digital marketing for businesses in Santa Rosa and across the U.S as a Wix Partner.

2. No Keyword Targeting

You may be using industry language, but that doesn’t mean you’re using the words your customers actually search. Or maybe you’re not targeting any keywords at all.

What to do:

Focus on keyword phrases that match what people are typing into Google. Some examples for my industry would include:

  • web design Santa Rosa

  • Wix SEO help

  • SEO for small businesses

  • website redesign services

Not:

  • backend website optimization

  • best websites

  • small business growth

Use these terms naturally in your page content and headings; avoid keyword stuffing.

3. Thin or Generic Content

A lot of Wix templates are visually clean but light on actual text. That’s a problem. Google relies on written content to determine what your site is about.

What to do:

Add meaningful content to each core page. Aim for at least 300 to 500 words per page that clearly explain who you are, what you do, and why it matters to your visitors. Focus on clarity and usefulness.

4. No Structured Data

Structured data helps search engines understand the purpose and content of your pages. Without it, your site is missing an opportunity to stand out in search results.

What to do:

Use the built-in structured data editor in Wix Studio or embed JSON-LD markup manually. Prioritize these types:

  • LocalBusiness (for your homepage)

  • Service (for each service page)

  • FAQ (if you have a question section)

This is a more technical fix, and included in Done Wright Media Advanced SEO Package.

5. Lack of Authority and Backlinks

Google also considers how trustworthy your website appears. If no one is linking to you, it may assume your site isn’t worth ranking.

What to do:

Build credibility over time. You can start by:

  • Creating Google Business and Yelp listings

  • Asking clients to leave reviews

  • Writing blog content that answers common questions

  • Partnering with local businesses and sharing links

Even a few quality links can make a big difference.

The Big Picture

Wix is a powerful platform, but it doesn’t han

dle SEO for you. If your site isn’t ranking, it likely needs better content, clearer structure, or a few technical improvements.

Done Wright Media helps Wix users and small businesses build a real online presence. If you’re not getting the results you want from your website, we can help you fix that.
